About EAGA

First Swing ClinicThe EAGA was incorporated in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania in February, 1987 and is a non-profit, non-partisan, and non-sectarian, 501(c)(3) charitable organization. It comprises the following states: ME, NH, VT, MA, RI, CT, NY, NJ, PA, MD, DE, MD, VA, WV, & DC; however, our members are from all over the world including a total of 42 states. The EAGA mission is to assist in the rehabilitation of amputees and provide for their general welfare, both physical and psychological, through the medium of golf and its associated activities.

Amputee Membership is open to any individual who has experienced the loss of one or more extremities at a major joint due to amputation or birth defect. Those with other types of amputation are considered for membership on an individual basis.

Associate Membership is available to all non-amputees who are interested in our activities and support the work of the association.

Life Membership is also available to anyone interested.

The EAGA membership has grown and expanded each year to where we are now close to 900 members.

The EAGA provides yearly College Scholarships to qualified applicants who are amputee members and/or family members. The EAGA has been able to provide this Scholarship because of the fund raising success of our yearly tournaments and other events and the generosity of our members and friends.

The EAGA provides "Instructional Golf Videos" for People with Disabilities. These videos are free of charge to our members and are available through the EAGA office.

The EAGA conducts 9-two day tournaments and 6-one day outings and scrambles, plus conducting 22 NAGA “First Swing” Seminars & 24 "Learn to Golf" clinics in our East Region

The EAGA hopes to attract more amputees to experience the fun and excitement of this wonderful game. Through the valiant efforts of our membership, we are beginning to gain more media attention in the hopes of reaching as many amputees as possible and introducing them to golf and the EAGA.

National Amputee Golf Association Membership – Special Opportunity

In 2008, the NAGA instituted a special NAGA Membership program for its Regional Affiliates. That special membership opportunity has been extended for 2009 and any EAGA Member who wishes to be a member of the National Amputee Golf Association will be able to do so at a Special Membership Fee of $10.00. Your NAGA Membership Fee will actually stay with the EAGA and be applied to the EAGA’s Milas Rose Fund. The Milas Rose Fund provides for complimentary EAGA Memberships to any wounded soldier who wishes to play golf and be a member of the EAGA.  In 2008, 20 Wounded Warriors received Memberships to the EAGA through the Milas Rose Fund. The EAGA Office will send your NAGA Membership information directly to the NAGA Office so they can update their database and send out your NAGA Membership Card, Bag Tag etc.

I would like to encourage all our EAGA Members to join the NAGA if you do not already belong. For NAGA to have a greater presence in soliciting support from the prosthetic and golf companies as well as other business that support our goals, it is very important that we assist our National organization efforts to increase its membership ranks. This special membership program will help us to do just that. Remember that if it wasn’t for the NAGA and their support, the EAGA would never have been organized and be thriving today. Our support also assists the “First Swing” Seminar & Clinic program, the NAGA College Scholarship Fund and the NAGA “Most Improved Golfer” Award, which is donated for each of our Eastern Tournaments.  Thanks for your consideration of a NAGA membership. Please come and help us continue to bring golf to the Amputee Community.

Please contact 1-800-633-6242 or e-mail b1naga@aol.com for additional membership information or go to the NAGA Web Site www.nagagolf.com.
